After India’s recent Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has reportedly shifted 72 terrorist launchpads located near the border to “depth areas” further inside its territory. Senior officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) shared this update on Saturday, emphasizing that the force remains ready to act when directed by the government.
Launchpads Now in Depth Areas
According to BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vikram Kunwar, about 12 launchpads remain active in the depth areas of Sialkot and Zafarwal, while the remaining 60 launchpads are spread across other regions. He clarified that these launchpads are not permanent and typically operate only before attempts to infiltrate militants into India. Currently, there are no terrorist training camps near the border.
Militants Receiving Mixed Training
DIG Kunwar highlighted a significant shift in militant operations. Previously, groups like JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammed) and LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) operated in separate areas. Following Operation Sindoor, militants are now being trained in a combined manner, allowing different groups to undergo mixed training. This change provides terrorists with more flexible operational capabilities if they attempt infiltration.
BSF Ready for Any Situation
Shashank Anand, Inspector General of Jammu Frontier, assured that the BSF is fully prepared to respond if the government orders the resumption of Operation Sindoor. “The BSF has experience from various wars and operations, including 1965, 1971, 1999 Kargil, and Operation Sindoor. We can inflict even greater losses on the enemy if required,” he said.
Monitoring Pakistani Rangers
During Operation Sindoor, Pakistani Rangers reportedly vacated their posts, but IG Anand noted that in normal circumstances, they return to their positions. The BSF continues to monitor all activities along the border closely. Any suspicious movements will be addressed promptly and appropriately.
Current Situation on the Border
At present, no active terrorist movements have been detected near the border. The BSF continues to maintain vigilance, keeping all its personnel alert and ready. Officials emphasized that the force is prepared to act decisively should the situation escalate. The combination of operational experience and constant monitoring ensures that India’s border remains secure.
