It all started when Pakistan targeted the Jammu airport with their fighter jets. Major offensive happened all along the western border with Jets, Missiles, and drones. India’s air defence systems proved too strong for Pakistan, successfully intercepting their missiles, drones, and shooting down four fighter jets.
At 8:30 PM, 2 US-supplied F-16s and 2 Chinese JF-17s were brought down by Indian Air Defence Systems led by S-400. Pakistan triggered the latest round of tensions by launching drones and firing missiles at key Indian targets. In response, Indian air defence teams swiftly intercepted the threats across Jammu and Kashmir, Udhampur, and Jaisalmer, with locals witnessing loud explosions in the skies during the interceptions.
In response, India launched drone strikes on Lahore and Sialkot, two key cities in Pakistan. India also reportedly destroyed a Pakistani air defence system in Faisalabad. There are also unconfirmed reports of two Pakistani pilots captured alive by Indian security forces in separate locations- Akhnoor in Jammu and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan- following the downing of Pakistan Air Force F-16 fighter jets. This has yet to be officially confirmed.
EAM Speaks To US Secretary Of State Marco Rubio
After 9 pm, After the multiple downing of Pak fighter jets, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He conveyed to him that India will firmly counter any attempts by Pakistan to escalate the situation.
After the phone call, Jaishankar emphasized India’s focused and calculated response to cross-border terrorism.
“Spoke with US @SecRubio this evening. Deeply appreciate US commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism,” Jaishankar said in a social media post.
“Underlined India’s targeted and measured response to cross-border terrorism. Will firmly counter any attempts at escalation,” he said.
Indian Navy And INS Vikrant
After the Indian Air Force took action, the Navy stepped in. After 11 PM, reports came about the Indian Navy Using INS Vikrant stationed in the Arabian Sea. It began targeting Karachi, causing heavy damage. The Navy’s attack set off massive fires in the city, including at the Karachi port. Several missiles were reportedly fired from INS Vikrant at Karachi and Ormara ports, sparking fires at both sites. Thick smoke filled the air, forcing residents to panic and flee the coastal areas inland.
At 1 AM, Pakistan launched a salvo of missiles and suicide drones at 15 Indian military targets in northern and western India around 1 am.
Reports suggest that Karachi and Ormara are home to important Pakistani Navy bases, including the headquarters of senior officers, warships, and submarines. By attacking these bases, INS Vikrant has severely impacted Pakistan’s naval operations. The Indian Navy’s offensive is still going strong.
Earlier in the evening of May 8, Pakistan launched eight missiles targeting areas like Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia in Jammu. Indian air defence systems stopped all of them in the air. Because of this, no damage was reported.
