Kapileshwar Temple: The gazette notification to bring the Kapileshwar temple under the ASI’s protected monument list came on May 5, with the decision being taken for better maintenance and protection of the structure. The temple priests and local residents have also expressed happiness over the decision.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sadangi thanked to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for including Kapileshwar temple in the list of ASI protected monuments. Sadangi said that I have requested the Union Minister to declare the caves of Khandagiri-Udayagiri as a World Heritage Site.
Chief priest words
Appreciating the efforts of MP Aparajita Sadangi and Union Minister, the chief priest Shivram Maliya said that the temple has been damaged at many places due to the negligence of the state government. Some of the architectural part of the temple was re-lighted during the ASI survey, so this temple will now attract more tourists like the Lingaraja temple in Bhubaneswar.
Kalinga Architecture style
The 5th-century-old temple was renovated by Gajapati Kapilendra Deva in the 14th century and is known for its exquisite carvings and grand architecture, exemplifying the age-old practice of Indian temple buildings.
It is a fine example of the Kalinga style of architecture, known for its grandeur and simplicity. It is a famous tourist destination that attracts visitors and devotees from all over India and the world.
