Odisha chief secretary Pradeep Jena on Saturday confirmed that the death toll in the horrific train derailment in Balasore had risen to 237.

At the same time, more than 900 people are said to be injured. Whose treatment is going on in different hospitals. The injured are being taken to nearby hospitals in Bahanaga, Sore and Balasore.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will visit the incident site today and take stock of the situation. Along with this, he has also announced compensation. In a tweet, the Railway Minister has announced Rs 10 lakh to the families of the dead, Rs 2 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 50,000 to the lightly injured.

Coromandel Express (12841-Up) crashed near Panpana, two km from Bahanga station under Balasore district on Friday evening. On Friday, the train was going from Shalimar to Chennai. Meanwhile, at around 7:05 pm, Bahanga boarded the goods train parked near the station.

After this, the Coromandel Express train collided with the express going from Bangalore to Howrah. According to Kharagpur DRM, first the Coromandel Express derailed, after which the Bengaluru Howrah Express collided. In this accident, 12 coaches of both the trains got derailed.
