Notorious Naxal commander Ganesh Uike, carrying a Rs 1.1 crore bounty, was neutralised by security forces during an encounter in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. The Union Home Minister’s Office shared the information on Thursday.
Ganesh Uike was a member of the Central Committee, and he was carrying a Rs 1.1 crore bounty on his head.

Union home minister Amit Shah’s office posted on X, ” A significant milestone towards Naxal-free Bharat. In a major operation in Kandhmal, Odisha, 6 Naxalites, including Central Committee Member Ganesh Uike, have been neutralized so far. With this major breakthrough, Odisha stands at the threshold of becoming completely free from Naxalism. We are resolved to eliminate Naxalism before the 31st of March 2026.”

Two Naxals were killed on December 24
Earlier, information about the killing of three Naxals, including a woman cadre, emerged early Thursday morning. According to police, two Naxals were killed on Wednesday in the region. Later, Amit Shah shared information about the killing of Ganesh Uike through a post on X.
Belghar Maoist gunbattle
A fierce gun battle took place in Gumma under the Belghar police station limits. A senior police official said that both Naxals have been identified as Bari alias Rakesh and Dalam alias Amrit, who were members of CPI (Maoist). Both were natives of Chhattisgarh and were jointly carrying a reward of Rs 23.65 lakh.
Naxals confronted in search op
The officer said that the body of a woman cadre was also found at the encounter spot, but her identity has not been established so far. After receiving intelligence inputs, the Odisha Special Operations Group (SOG) carried out a search operation in the forest area, during which they confronted the Naxals. A fierce gun battle took place between them, the official said.
He further added that the bodies of two Naxals were found at the spot, while the body of a woman cadre was found at some distance. The police team also seized a rifle and a set of walkie-talkies. The officer said no security personnel were injured and the search operation has been intensified in the area. The gun battle took place a day after 22 Naxals surrendered before Odisha DGP YB Khurania in Malkangiri.
