Odisha: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old government employee in Odisha alleged that she suffered a miscarriage after being denied leave during severe labor pain at her office in Kendrapara district. According to reports, the affected woman, Barsha Priyadarshini, who works at the Women and Child Development Department, shared her ordeal on Tuesday, while the incident occurred on October 25.
The seven-month-pregnant victim reported that her pleas to take her to the hospital were ignored by Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Snehalata Sahoo and other officials. She also alleged being treated poorly.
The woman’s family members later took her to a private hospital in Kendrapara, news agency PTI reported. Upon arrival, the medical tests revealed the death of her unborn child.

Victim Files Complaint To DC
According to reports, the woman filed a formal complaint to the district collector alleging “mental harassment and gross negligence” by the CDPO. She has also demanded strict disciplinary action against Sahoo.
Response And Investigation
Addressing the incident, ADM Nilu Mohapatra said that the district administration has sought an inquiry into the matter by the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) following the complaint.
In a post on X, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed that she has discussed the matter with the Kendrapara collector, seeking an immediate detailed inquiry
