Odisha Shocker: Drunk Man Attacks Wife With Axe, Dies By Suicide Later

What started as an argument slowly turned into a heated dispute. He next picked up an axe kept nearby and attacked his wife brutally.

Odisha: In a shocking incident that unfolded in Odisha’s Bheunria village on Saturday afternoon, a man allegedly attacked his wife and later died by suicide. According to reports, things turned sour between the couple, following which he assaulted her with a sharp weapon over a domestic dispute.

The deceased, identified as 52-year-old Shyama Bhoi, is believed to be mentally unstable. It has been learnt that he often indulged in an argument with his wife. The 47-year-old victim, Ratni Bhoi, was allegedly attacked with an axe. Earlier on Saturday, Shyama came home intoxicated, after which an altercation broke out between the couple.

What started as an argument slowly turned into a heated dispute. He next picked up an axe kept nearby and attacked his wife brutally. Ratni was immediately rushed to a nearby community health centre by their children. Shyama fled the spot and later died by suicide by hanging herself, reports added.

An investigation has been launched into the incident, and efforts are underway to establish a clear timeline of events. TNIE quoted Padampur IIC Mamata Naik as saying, “The woman is currently undergoing treatment. Her statement will be recorded once she is stable.”
