Odisha: A disturbing incident that is deeply shocking has emerged from Odisha’s Ganjam district. A 16-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by her father in an inebriated state, attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. According to reports, the minor is in critical condition and is battling for her life at a hospital.
Man Rapes Daughter While She Was Alone At Home
Police arrested the victim’s father on June 15, when the world was busy with Father’s Day celebrations. Reports stated that the incident took place last Wednesday (June 11) when the girl was at her home all by herself. Digapahandi Inspector-in-charge PK Patra said that the father allegedly raped her when her mother left the home for work. The man, who is a daily wager, had come home that day in an inebriated condition.
Victim Attempts Suicide By Consuming Sleeping Pills
The girl tried to take her life following the incident by consuming sleeping pills in large quantities. Police said that she is admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. The girl told her mother about the entire incident upon regaining consciousness. It has been learnt that the alcoholic man has four children — two daughters and two sons. The accused was charged under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act, PTI reported.
