New Delhi: Odisha Health Minister Naba Das on Sunday succumbed to his injuries after being shot on chest allegedly by a cop near Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district where he went to attend a public event.
An eyewitness at the incident spot said that they saw a police personnel running away in the crowd after the gun shot was heard.
The victim minister was invited at a public grievance office opening where he was the chief guest. A huge crowd of people welcomed the minister on his arrival.
Meanwhile, a miscreant fired a bullet on the minister and ran away. The accused was allegely wearing the police uniform who was seen running away after firing the shot from close range.

As NDTV reported, the accused is assistant sub-inspector Gopal Das who opened fire at the minister. The news portal quoted Brajrajnagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Gupteswar Bhoi.
The vitcim minister who was immediately rushed to the hospital after sustaining injury on chest, is likely to be air lifted to Bhubaneswar.
The state health minister was shot on Sunday near Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district.
