Bhubaneswar: In another shocking incident, a 19-year-old college student was allegedly gangraped by two people in front of her boyfriend near Baliharichandi beach in Puria. According to the Police, the incident occurred on Saturday when the victim, along with her male friend, was sitting near the Baliharchandi temple.
The couple encountered the accused there, who tried to extort money after filming their videos. This led to a heated exchange, and when they refused to pay, the accused beat the male friend and tied him to a tree. Two youth from the group then allegedly took turns sexually assaulting the girl.
The incident came to light when the girl shared the details of her ordeal after coming out of the trauma. A complaint was filed, and police took swift action in the case. Three accused, who were locals, have been taken into custody. Moreover, the videos were deleted from the accused person’s phone, as per reports. Efforts are underway to track down another accused who is currently absconding.
In a separate yet similar incident that took place earlier in June, a group of men allegedly raped a young woman in Odisha’s Ganjam district. The incident took place at Gopalpur Beach, a famous tourist destination. The woman was a college student who was with a male friend at the spot. The men allegedly tied her friend up and took turns raping the woman.
