Odisha Full Cabinet Ministers List 2024: On Wednesday (June 12), a total of 15 ministers, along with Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, were inducted into the Cabinet.
BJP MLA from Keonjhar, Mohan Charan Majhi, a member of the tribal Santhal community, was sworn in as Odisha’s Chief Minister. The party also appointed two Deputy CMs — K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, with Parida becoming the state’s first female Deputy CM.
Majhi clinched victory in Keonjhar with an 11,577-vote margin, surpassing BJD’s Mina Majhi. He becomes the first Chief Minister from Keonjhar in the state’s northern region. Previously, he served as Minister of Industry and Public Enterprise during the BJP-BJD coalition from 2000 to 2009. In another victory, Pravati Parida secured her maiden assembly seat in 2024 from Nimapara after facing three consecutive defeats.
The BJP ended the 24-year rule of Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal in Odisha by securing 78 seats in the Assembly. With the backing of three Independent MLAs, their tally reached 81. Previously, the BJD and BJP had a coalition alliance spanning 11 years from 1998 to 2009, contesting several elections together. Patnaik terminated the alliance before the 2009 general elections following unrest in Kandhamal.
