Dehradun: NSA Ajit Doval and lyricist Prasoon Joshi are among the five distinguished people from Uttarakhand, who will be conferred with this year’s Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman.
Apart from Doval, former Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, late poet and author Girish Chandra Tiwari and late journalist Viren Dangwal will be honoured posthumously with the award, a government order said.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of all the people of the state towards these great sons of Devbhoomi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami hailed all the recipients of the award.
“On behalf of all the people of the state, I express my gratitude towards these great sons of ‘Devbhoomi’, who hoisted the Uttarakhand’s fame flag all over the world through their inspirational works in various spheres of social life,” he tweeted in Hindi.

The award will be conferred upon them on the state foundation day on November 9.
About the award
The Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman is one of the two highest civilian awards of the state along with the Uttarakhand Ratna.
It is awarded to a person for their extraordinary contribution to any field of human endeavour.
The award was constituted in the year 2021 by the Uttarakhand Government.
Former chief minister ND Tiwari, environmentalist Anil Prakash Joshi, author Ruskin Bond, mountaineer Bachendri Pal and folk singer Narendra Singh Negi were the winners of the first edition of the award.
