Northern Railway resumes platform ticket rate to Rs 10

Lucknow: Northern Railways on Thursday reduced the platform ticket rates, which had been raised to 50 due to increasing rush on Chhath Puja and Diwali.

At Lucknow, Varanasi, Barabanki, Akbarpur, Shahganj, Jaunpur, Sultanpur Junction, Rae Bareli, Janghai, Bhadohi, Pratapgarh, and Unnao Junction, tickets are now less expensive.

In the meantime, Southern Railways had also raised the cost of platform tickets at a number of stations, including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, to reduce crowding.

Eight significant railway stations in Chennai and its suburbs had their platform ticket costs increased by Southern Railways. On October 1, the price of a ticket jumped from 10 to 20, and it will stay that way until January 31, 2023.
