The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the southwest monsoon is now progressing towards northern and central regions. According to the weather department officials, India is set to receive rainfall above average during the last days of June.

From 17th to 20th June, places such as West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh will see torrential rains. The other affected regions are Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, and West Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, IMD has warned against strong surface winds over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam. A yellow alert has been sounded for Delhi, with rain lashing the city this week.
