Noida: A massive fire broke out in a house in Noida at around 4 am today. Three girls died in the accident, and their parents were badly burned and have been referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where they are in critical condition. The police have taken the girls’ bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem. The entire house and all belongings were destroyed in the fire. Police have registered a fire case and started an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the fire was caused by a battery explosion while charging.
DCP Ram Badan Singh mentioned about receiving a call at around 4:15 am about a large fire in a slum-like house in Sector-8. People had also called the fire brigade. Upon receiving the information, he and his team rushed to the scene. The fire brigade arrived and controlled the fire within 10 minutes.
However, when the firemen entered the house, they were shocked to find the bodies of three girls, Aastha (10), Naina (7), and Aradhya (5). The parents were badly burned and unconscious. They were immediately taken to the nearest hospital and then referred to a higher center.
The DCP stated that the fire was caused by a battery explosion. Daulat Ram, 32, an e-rickshaw driver, lived in a one-room slum-like house with his wife and three daughters. He had likely put the battery on charging the previous night, and it exploded due to a short circuit or overheating, causing a fire in the room.
All five family members were sleeping at the time and couldn’t escape. The intense flames prevented others from rescuing them. The girls’ bodies were found on the bed, and the parents were found lying on the floor.
