Noida: The Noida Authority has instructed the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Urban Transport to outline a plan for running 100 electric buses to revolutionize public transport. These e-buses will run through 27 routes in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district- 13 in Noida, 9 in Greater Noida, and five in the Yamuna Expressway area to enhance public transport connectivity across the region. The UP Directorate of Urban Transport unveiled this project before the Noida Authority officials, on Tuesday, September 3.
Residents of Noida can avoid high fares charged for auto or cab rides to reach offices and metro stations, soon. This initiative is part of the Prime Minister’s E-Bus Sewa scheme which aspires to incorporate 10,000 electric buses through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) across various cities in India. The project is headed by the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Urban Transport and the Union Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs (MoHUA).

Noida Authority Pushes For Fast-Tracked E-Bus Service
CEO of Noida Authority, Lokesh M asserted that they are pushing to start the service as soon as possible, and have asked all involved parties to speed up the project. According to the officials, the service is expected to start in about 5 to 6 months.
MoHUA is likely to issue a tender to select a company to buy and operate the e-bus service, meanwhile, Noida Authority is responsible for building depots, EV charging stations, and bus stops along the routes. Officials stated that the Centre will provide financial support for the project and the Noida Authority will cover the ongoing costs of running the service.
New Routes To Link Metro And Key Areas
Noida Authority explained that the scheme aims to elevate the public transport system by initially starting with 100 electric buses and likely expanding later based on demand and results. The routes are designed to connect key areas like Metro, commercial centers, government offices, and residential areas, including links between Noida and Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida.
