Noida: Man Sends Morphed Photos Of TV Anchor To Her Email, FIR Filed

A TV anchor in Noida received morphed explicit photos of herself via email, which led to the filing of an FIR by the police.

An unidentified suspect booked for allegedly sending morphed photos of anchor of a news channel to her email on May 19 officially said on Thursday. The legal counsel of the private news channel filed a complaint at Sector 20 police station on behalf of the anchor, police said. 

According to the Hindustan Times, the complainant said in her FIR, “One of our anchors received an email on May 19 from the email address at around 2.42 pm. Immediately thereafter, she received two more emails at 3.04 pm and 3.12 pm.” as stated by HT.

“The complainant said emails are disturbing in their content and are found to have been issued by the sender by manipulating the image of our anchor and superimposing her face on nude and sexually explicit poses of another person,” reads the FIR.

According to police, the suspect is not known to the anchor and his actions are intended to insult her modesty. Police said that a case under sections for forgery and word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 66, 67, and 67a of the IT Act was registered at Sector 20 police station. “Our cyber team is investigating the case to trace the suspect,” Hindustan Times quoted Noida Additional DCP Sumit Shukla, as saying.
