The Noida Police arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly throwing his two stepchildren into a 10-foot-deep drain. The man had the intention to kill them.
According to PTI, the incident took place near Paras Tierra Society in Sector 137 on December 2. A commuter heard the cries of a boy and a girl from the drain and rescued them, officials said.
Accused arrested on December 3
A complaint was lodged on December 3, and the accused, Ashish, was arrested, the police station in-charge of Sector 142 said. “Ashish, a resident of Kanpur currently living in Shahdara village in Sector 141, threw the children into the drain and fled. Both children were later found safe and are in good health,” PTI quoted the station in-charge as saying.
Ashish bought children’s mother to Noida
As per police, Ashish and the children’s mother, Neelam, are natives of the same village. Neelam was married to Ashish’s cousin, and then they came close to each other. When Neelam’s husband learned about their relationship, Ashish brought Neelam to Noida along with her two kids, police said.
Ashish threw children into drain: Police
Ashish did not want to keep Neelam’s children. He took Neelam to the market and left her there. Later, he came back home, took the two children, and threw them into the drain, police added.
The police produced the children before the child welfare committee. The police registered a case under sections of BNS.
