Noida: Jewellery Worth Lakhs, Cash Stolen from Defence Ministry Official’s Residence

The victim said the room was not locked, and the labourer’s face was visible in the CCTV footage. She alleged that the police did not register her complaint on October 11.

Jewellery worth lakhs and cash were stolen from the residence of a Defence Ministry official at Kendriya Vihar in Delhi’s Sector 82. The family alleged the involvement of a labourer in the incident. The police registered a case after 15 days and launched a probe into the matter.

Complainant Divya Yadav is a teacher, and her husband, Manjit Kumar, is a Deputy Secretary in the Defence Ministry. She hired a labourer on October 7 for cleaning the house on the occasion of the Diwali festival. They hired one Karan, a native of Kannauj district in Uttar Pradesh.

Karan did the cleaning job for two days, but on the third day, he silently left the house after working for merely two hours. The victim said that her husband was monitoring the cleaning work on October 9. Karan left the house at 11 a.m. and allegedly stole gold earrings, a gold chain, silver toe rings, five silver coins, and Rs 70,000 in cash.

The victim said the room was not locked, and the labourer’s face was visible in the CCTV footage. She alleged that the police did not register her complaint on October 11. Later, the police registered the case on October 26 and launched a probe.

Police said they will nab the accused soon.
