The much-anticipated Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is set to begin operations on October 30, 2025. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed the opening date after several delays. At launch, the airport will offer flights to 10 key Indian cities, such as Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Officials expect the new airport to significantly enhance connectivity in Uttar Pradesh and play a major role in reshaping India’s aviation landscape.
Residents of Noida and surrounding areas will no longer have to travel to Delhi for international travel. India’s leading airline, IndiGo, is set to begin operating international flights from Jewar Airport.
This new service will provide direct connectivity to foreign countries and, according to officials, will open up many new opportunities for trade, tourism, and investment.
Modern facilities to be available at airports across the country
Union Minister Naidu informed that facilities such as free Wi-Fi, libraries, and special zones for children will soon be introduced at all airports in the country, including Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad. However, no new flights will be launched from Hindon Airport until the expansion work at the airport is completed.
Noida International Airport is being constructed at a cost of ₹29,650 crore, with an investment of ₹10,056 crore for the first phase. The airport will span a total of 1,334 hectares and, upon completion of all four phases, will be able to handle 70 million passengers annually.
In the initial phase, a runway and a modern terminal building are being constructed, with a capacity for 12 million passengers per year. This phase is planned to be completed by April 2026, with 90% of the work completed so far, and will be ready by October 25th.
Construction work is being carried out by a Swiss company
The project is being implemented by a Swiss company under Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL). The terminal building will span 100,000 square meters and will accommodate 28 aircraft simultaneously. Additionally, an MRO hub is being developed on 40 acres and a multi-modal cargo hub on 80 acres, which will provide a new impetus to trade and logistics.
Key facilities completed, final preparations underway
Key infrastructure, such as the airport runway, ATC tower, fire station, airline offices, and cargo terminal, has already been constructed. The boarding bridges will be ready by the end of September, while the check-in, security, boarding gates, and departure areas will be completed by October 20. Work on the arrival and departure halls has already been completed.
Jewar Airport will give a new lease on life to the NCR
Once operational, Jewar Airport will become one of the largest airports in North India. This will significantly improve air connectivity in the National Capital Region. This project is considered important not only for passengers but also for industrial development, further strengthening the region’s economic activity.
