A Noida resident who was hit by a speeding BMW in Noida has died in the hospital on Monday. His demise comes two days after his five-year-old niece was killed at the spot in the same accident.
Raja, his niece Ayaat, and her father, Gul Mohammad, were returning from a hospital when a Haryana-registered car rammed into their scooter in Noida’s Sector 20. Media reports have detailed that they had gone to the hospital for Ayaat’s treatment.
Due to the impact of the accident, the girl died on the spot while Raja and Gul Mohammad were taken to the hospital. Raja had suffered severe injuries and slipped into a coma, and was declared dead this morning. Gul Mohammad, 45, remains in critical condition.
Two suspects have been arrested on charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence. The BMW involved in the incident has been seized. The accused have been identified as Yash Sharma, 22, a resident of Sector 37 in Noida, and Abhishek Rawat, 22, from Sector 70.
Yash Sharma, who deals in used cars, had reportedly borrowed the vehicle from someone else at some point in the past. Photos of the incident show that both the car and the scooter the family was riding suffered extensive damage. The front fascia of the car was completely wrecked, and the scooter met with a similar fate.
