It rained in many parts of Delhi on Sunday, but people are still not getting relief from the heat as the temperature remains above 37 degrees. The humidity is also causing discomfort. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Sunday’s maximum temperature was 37.1 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees higher than the seasonal average, and the minimum temperature was 27.6 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts cloudy skies and light rain in some areas of Delhi on Monday. However, humidity will still be an issue. People are sweating even with brief outings during the day and evening. The combination of light rain followed by sunshine is causing high humidity, which is not decreasing due to a lack of wind.
Despite the rain, Delhiites haven’t gotten relief from the heat, but pollution has decreased, and air quality has improved to the moderate category. The Central Pollution Control Board reported that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was 109 at 6 pm, which is considered moderate. An AQI of zero to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 satisfactory, 101 to 200 moderate, 201 to 300 bad, 301 to 400 very bad, and 401 to 500 severe.
Mumbai and its suburbs have experienced heavy rain in the past few days, but the Meteorological Department expects a decrease in rainfall in these areas. On Sunday, the department issued a ‘red alert’ for Kolhapur, Satara, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri districts, predicting very heavy rain. However, rain in Mumbai is expected to lessen. The department has forecast light or sporadic rain in Marathwada, Vidarbha, Mumbai, and other coastal areas of Maharashtra.
