Noida: The Model Mobility Corridor project from the NH-9’s model town towards Mamura in Noida Sector 62, has picked up pace. The Noida Authority has reduced the size of the roundabout near Sector 62. The work on this project is expected to be completed soon. However, a company for constructing the corridor is yet to be finalised. The authority issued a tender on March 11, 2025.
Eliminating The Bottleneck Is A Challenge
Traffic entering Noida from NH-9 faces a bottleneck, leading to traffic congestion. This leads to long queues, sometimes even stretching back to the Meerut Expressway. The authority has taken several measures to resolve the issue, but traffic jams persist.
Relief For Commuters
A review of the transportation path led officials from the Noida Authority to approve diminishing the dimensions of the Sector-62 traffic circle. The authority released a tender for building the Mamura to Sector-62 corridor. The City Authority plans to use bulldozers to make service roads and footpaths narrower in front of Sector-62 residential areas to enlarge the principal street. The traffic improvements will benefit about 5 lakh vehicle users as they will experience reduced congestion.
Tender To Be Reissued
The Authority received three proposals from different companies that sought to build the corridor. The companies submitted their plans to the Authority but their proposals did not fulfill necessary technical or financial standards. A new competitive tender process will be published by the Authority during the upcoming week. The construction of the corridor will start its operations during the last week of May.
Designated Stands For Autos And Taxis
The presence of auto and taxi parking creates congestion at this location. The Authority intends to establish a proper location for public vehicle parking. This location will function as a stand where all taxis and autos must conduct their waiting period before their designated movement occurs.
Two Foot Overbridges (FOBs) To Be Built
Plans are there to construct two-foot overbridges on the road linking NH-9 to Sectors 62 and 63. However, the exact locations are still being reviewed. Authority officials will visit the sites to finalise the suitable locations. These foot overbridges will have elevators for the convenience of pedestrians.
Dedicated Lane For Pedestrians
A separate lane for pedestrians will be developed along this road. Additionally, benches will be installed at select locations for public convenience, and beautification work will also be undertaken in the area.
