In a significant development, following the days of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan witnessed a peaceful night. The Indian Army on Monday confirmed that the Sunday night was largely peaceful across J&K and other regions across the international border. This marked the first calm night since May 7, following the Operation Sindoor carried by Indian Armed Forces on 9 terror bases in Pakistan and PoK.
After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan had resorted to attack various Indian military bases and civilian areas across Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army had retaliated the intrusion and successfully intercepted the drones fired by Pakistan. An understanding on a ceasefire was reached on Saturday, May 10 during the day, which Pakistan violated later that night. Pakistan was given a stern warning against further escalation on Sunday.

The Monday morning marked a notable shift from previous nights, which had witnessed heavy shelling, firing, drones, blackout and sirens. Visuals from Jaisalmer, Rajouri and Akhnoor showed normalcy returning and a peaceful state after several days.
According to an official statement on Monday by the Indian Army, “The night remained largely peaceful in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the international border. No incident has been reported, marking the first calm night in recent days.”

DGMO Meeting
Furthermore, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan are scheduled to hold talks today at 12 noon to review and discuss the ceasefire “understanding” reached during their May 10 conversation, which aimed to halt military operations along the International Border and the Line of Control.
The Indian armed forces held a joint press conference on Sunday and detailed the sequence of events from the launch of Operation Sindoor to the war-like situation that unfolded after India avenged the Pahalgam terror attack. The Indian Army said that 35-40 personnel of the Pakistan Army had been killed at the Line of Control between May 7 and May 10.
