New Delhi: On the second day of his Delhi visit, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to meet the prominent leaders of left parties. His visit aims at bringing the Opposition closer so it can make collective efforts to defeat Narendra Modi-led Centre in 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Media reports claim that the CM will meet Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury and CPI leader D Raja today.

He can also meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier, Kumar said if the opposition remains united, there will be a big success in the 2024 elections.

Met Rahul Gandhi on Monday

CM Nitish Kumar met Congress’s Rahul Gandhi at his Tughlaq Road residence on Monday. Sources said the discussion was entirely focused on 2024 and the campaign to unite the opposition, at the end of which CM Nitish told reporters that he had no ambitions for the top post.

Kumar said, “A concerted effort is being made to weaken the regional parties. My effort is to unite the opposition before the general elections. I have no intention of projecting myself as a prime ministerial candidate.”

Meanwhile, he dismissed speculations over his candidature of Prime Minister saying that he has “no aspiration.”

Said the Chief Minister in Delhi: “If the opposition will get united, then a good atmosphere will be created. I have no desire and no aspiration (to become prime minister).”
