Lok Sabha election results 2024: Counting has crossed the halfway mark but neither has the BJP bagged a clear mandate nor the INDIA bloc has crossed the margin. This turbulence has stirred all the political parties but has given a booster to those who have grabbed big in the alliance. Nitish Kumar is once again in the role of the kingmaker and this time, at the centre. Sources say that he was contacted by the Congress party and offered the role of deputy prime minister.
Delving down in Bihar
Nitish Kumar was initially in the INDIA bloc but switched to the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Since 2015, it was the fourth time when he switched sides. Even after losing it to be the biggest leading party in Bihar since 2015, he remained the chief minister of the state.
Because of the rivalry between RJD and BJP, he had been benefitting all the time. This time, he has bagged the chance to play the same game at the centre.

Deputy PM Kumar?
It won’t be surprising if Nitish Kumar goes back to the INDIA bloc to get the throne of the deputy PM. His being a ping pong for the chair has been the ritual. After the announcement of the press conference by former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, it is clear that something is brewing up between this alliance and its ex-partners.
