JD-U leaders affirmed that labeling Nitish Kumar as ‘tiger’ is fitting as his influence strengthened NDA’s performance in recent Lok Sabha elections.

Ahead of Narendra Modi’s anticipated swearing-in as India’s prime minister, a large poster of Bihar CM and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar with ‘TIGER ZINDA HAI’ (Tiger is alive) surfaced in Patna.

Party workers erected the poster near the planetarium, portraying Kumar’s significance in NDA’s government formation.

Posters depicting the chief minister alongside the phrase ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ are being circulated by party members. They argue that labeling Kumar as the ‘tiger’ is fitting due to his significant impact on the NDA’s recent success in the Lok Sabha elections in the state. Vibrant banners praising Kumar are also visible in various parts of the city.

‘The JD(U)’s morale is undoubtedly lifted following our strong showing in the Lok Sabha polls. Party workers conceptualize and display such posters across the city. Nitish Kumar’s popularity among voters is underscored by the party’s impressive performance. Despite facing scrutiny prior to the poll results, he has emerged as the prominent face of the NDA in Bihar,’ stated JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar according to news agency PTI.

Why Modi’s Third Term Marks History, and Why Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar Remain with BJP?

Despite reports of overtures from the INDIA bloc, Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar stand firm with BJP-led NDA, offering unwavering support.

Critics once predicted Narendra Modi’s downfall due to his political oscillations, even mocking incidents like his display of BJP allegiance in Patna. Yet, he emerged as a pivotal figure, with JD(U) and BJP each securing 12 seats, contributing to NDA’s substantial victory in the recent elections.

JD(U) and BJP contested 16 and 17 seats, respectively, winning 12 each. NDA clinched 293 seats; INDIA bloc secured 234.

Nitish Kumar joined the BJP-led NDA in January, just before the Lok Sabha elections, shortly after Mamata Banerjee suggested Mallikarjun Kharge as the potential Prime Minister candidate and convenor for the opposition’s INDIA alliance. Kumar stated that he left the INDIA bloc due to ‘ill-treatment’ from the Congress and other parties.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
