New Delhi: The Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar has removed the Law Minister Karthik Singh from his position. He has now been allotted the sugarcane industry portfolio. He has been replaced by Shamim Ahmad as the new Law Minister.
Accused in kidnaping case
This comes in after an arrest warrant was issued against Karthik Singh in a kidnapping case. The BJP had raised questions regarding this matter. The cabinet expansion of the Grand Alliance government was done this month in which Karthik Singh was made the Law Minister. On the day he took oath, he was to surrender in a kidnapping case. In the eyes of the court, Karthik was absconding for the last eight years.

After the swearing-in, information was given on behalf of Karthik Singh that the police had denied his involvement in the case after investigation. Despite this the order of surrender was issued by the court. An anticipatory bail application was made on behalf of Karthik Singh. However there was a stay on his arrest order till September 1.
Who is Kartik Singh?
Karthik Singh is said to be close to bahubali leader Anant Singh. He was made the Law Minister from the RJD quota. On the other hand, ever since Karthik Singh was made the Law Minister, the BJP was constantly raising questions. Earlier Nitish Kumar had denied having any information regarding the allegations against Karthik Singh.
