Nitin Gadkari wants to please RSS as PM Modi, Amit Shah ‘unhappy’: Congress’ Gourav Vallabh
New Delhi: Congress leader Gourav Vallabh said that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari wants to please Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are unhappy with him.
"We believe students of India and Karnataka should study about (BR) Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi's ideology rather than studying about KB Hedgewar and Veer Savarkar's ideology...Nitin Gadkari is saying so because he is trying to please RSS as PM Modi and Amit Shah don't like him," said the Congress leader.
This comes in a response to Nitin Gadkari's remark over revision of textbook syllabus in Karnataka where the Congress-led state government decided to drop chapters on Hindu ideologue VD Savarkar and KB Hedgewar were dropped.
The union minister had expressed regret over the Karnataka government's move and said, "It is unfortunate that the chapters on Dr Hedgewar and Swatantra Veer Savarkar have been removed from the school syllabus. There is nothing more painful than this."
As reported earlier, that the chapters in question were added by the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state as part of the change in syllabus rolled out by the then-previous Congress government.
In the latest, the Siddaramaiah-led government expressed concern over 'saffronisation' of the textbooks by adding chapters on Hindu ideologues.
