Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani, turned heads in a Kanchipuram silk saree at the private reception held ahead of US President-elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. Nita Ambani’s saree look radiated characteristic elegance. Her overall look, including jewelry, attracted viewers, but her saree was the highlight of the moment.
The saree worn by Nita Ambani exuded beauty and highlighted Indian craftsmanship. Here’s more about it.
About Her Saree
According to a statement by Reliance Foundation, Nita draped in a traditional Kanchipuram silk saree by Swadesh, designed with extensive research to feature over 100 significant traditional motifs inspired by the spiritual and historical essence of Kanchipuram’s grand temples, and adorned with 18th-century heritage Indian jewellery, she carried the soul of India to the stage of the world.
The custom-made saree is woven by National Award-winning master artisan B. Krishnamoorthy. It features intricate and meticulously chosen motifs like the Iruthalaipakshi (double-headed eagle symbolizing Lord Vishnu), Mayil (representing immortality and divinity), and the mythical Sorgavasal animal trails (embodying the charm of India’s rich folklore).
To add the contemporary touch to the look, the saree was paired with velvet blouse designed by Manish Malhotra. The blouse has a built-up neckline and intricate beadwork along the sleeve hem.
Nita Ambani Dons 200-Year-Old Pendant
Nita Ambani donned a 200-year-old rare Indian pendant crafted in Southern India to further complete her look. The pendant features a parrot-shaped treasure encrusted with emeralds, rubies, diamonds, and pearls set in gold Kundan technique with red and green enamel.
Though this ensemble, Nita Ambani showcased the timeless beauty of Indian traditions, paying tribute to artisans and once again bringing global recognition to their unmatched craftsmanship.
Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani met with US President-elect Donald Trump on January 19, 2025, just one day before his swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C. The Ambanis are among a select group of around 100 guests invited to a special “candlelight dinner” hosted by Trump.
