New Delhi: An Indigo Airline flight bound for Doha made an emergency landing at Karachi International Airport in Pakistan after a passenger felt unwell.
A 60-year-old Nigerian passenger was declared dead by the airport medical team, Indigo Airline said.
According to information, a passenger on Indigo Airline flight 6E-1736 felt unwell mid-way, after which the pilot contacted the Karachi Air Traffic Controller and asked for an emergency landing which was granted.
A spokesperson of Karachi Airport said, “A flight of an Indian airline going to Doha via Dubai from Delhi sought emergency landing permission due to a medical emergency, which was granted by the Air Traffic controller at the Karachi airport”.

The passenger identified as Abdullah (60), a Nigerian citizen, passed away before the emergency landing of the flight. The doctors of the Civil Aviation Authorities issued the death certificates of the passenger.
IndiGo airline in a statement said, “We are deeply saddened by the news and our prayers and wishes are with his family and loved ones. We are currently making arrangements for transferring the other passengers of the flight, in coordination with the relevant authorities “.
