New Delhi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids in 10 states of the country on Thursday. The raids were conducted as an action against terrorism that has been brewing in the country.
Around 100 people arrested
This is being considered as one of the biggest raids in the country. The joint action by the NIA, ED and state police forces of the respective states raided locations in 10 states across the country. As a result of the raids around 100 leaders of Popular Front of India (PFI) and SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India) have been arrested.

However, most of the arrests made by the agencies have been of those people who were protesting around the spot during the raids and all of them are members of PFI. NIA raids continue in states like Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

NIA has also raided the residences of PFI officials at many places including Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Ramnad, Dindugal, Theni and Thenkashi in Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, searches are also going on at the state headquarters of PFI in Chennai. Raids were also conducted at the residence of PFI President OMA Salam in Malappuram.

PFI National Secretary arrested
PFI national secretary Naseeruddin Imlamaram has also been arrested. The 100 people who have been arrested are big leaders of PFI. This raid is going on in the states of UP, Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Very shocking facts are likely to be revealed in this raid. The operation of NIA and ED in so many states together has been done in a very well planned manner by making a special plan.
In the last few days, the NIA has registered more than a dozen cases related to PFI. These raids by the NIA are being carried out in residential and official premises of people involved in terror financing, organizing training camps and radicalizing people to join banned organizations.
