NIA conducts raids across Tamil Nadu targeting Hizb-ut-Tahrir suspects, aiming to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure public security.

On Sunday morning, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched simultaneous searches at 10 locations across Tamil Nadu as part of their investigation into the banned terrorist organization, Hizb-ut-Tahrir.

The raids, which included sites in Chennai, Trichy, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Erode, and Thiruppur, targeted key suspects linked to the organization. Among those targeted were Abdul Khan, known for leasing farmland near Mandaiyur in Pudukkotai, and Ahmed, residing in Kulandhai Ammaal Nagar, Thanjavur.

These actions come in the wake of ongoing efforts by the NIA to dismantle networks associated with Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The case, initially registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13(1)(b) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, centers on allegations of activities aimed at destabilizing public order and promoting communal disharmony.

Earlier in 2021, the NIA had arrested an individual in connection with the Madurai Hizb-ut-Tahrir case, which originated from posts on social media platforms allegedly aimed at stirring communal tensions.

The Tamil Nadu Police joined forces with the NIA in conducting these searches to identify individuals involved with the terrorist outfit and gather crucial evidence. The raids are ongoing, with authorities expected to release further updates as the operation progresses.

The coordinated efforts underscore a significant step in the NIA’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and uphold national security across Tamil Nadu.
