The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested another key accused in connection with last month’s Delhi bomb blast case.
Accused was nabbed by NIA
Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla of Baramulla (J&K) is the 8th accused to be arrested in the case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI. He was nabbed by an NIA team from Delhi.
NIA found him involved in the conspiracy behind the terrorist attack that killed 11 persons and injured several others in the Red Fort area. As per NIA investigations, Bilal had knowingly harboured the deceased accused Umar Un Nabi by providing him logistical support. He is also accused of destruction of evidence related to the terrorist attack.
NIA continues its probe in the case
NIA is continuing with its investigation into the conspiracy behind the deadly terror act. The anti-terror agency is working closely with various central and state agencies to unravel all the threads of the conspiracy.
Agency conducted search operation in forest of Anantnag
Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted a major search operation in the dense forests of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district in connection with the recent Red-Fort Delhi blast case. Two main accused in the case, Dr Adeel and Jasir Bilal, accompanied the NIA teams during the search, sources said.
The NIA was supported by Jammu and Kashmir police and Army personnel during the operation. The two accused were said to have guided the investigators to specific locations in the forest area based on their own disclosures.
Several items have been recovered
According to sources, several items suspected to be linked to the Delhi blast have been recovered from the forest following the leads provided by Dr Adeel and Jasir Bilal.
Investigators believe Dr Adeel was a close associate of Dr Umar, the mastermind behind the high-intensity explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10 that killed at least a dozen people and injured many others.
Bilal was arrested in November
Jasir Bilal, identified as a drone expert, was apprehended shortly after the blast in November this year.
Both men are members of a white-collar terror module cracked down by Jammu and Kashmir police, with seven arrests reported so far of individuals connected to the Delhi blast.
