NHAI Gets Approval For 8.5 km Elevated Stretch On Greenfield Expressway Extending From Jewar Airport To Faridabad

The project's cost projection rises to Rs 2,450 crore following this additional construction, increasing the total expenses by 48%.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has received approval to construct an elevated 8.5-kilometer section as part of the Rs1,650 crore Greenfield Expressway extending from Faridabad to Jewar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. This addition is likely to make the total cost reach around 48%, which takes tha cost around Rs 2,450 crore.

The construction of pillars for the elevated section has already begun near Sector 65, as this section will link both the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the local city infrastructure. However, an agreement on the shared funding responsibilities between NHAI and the state government is still pending before execution can begin.

The six-lane expressway is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana and spans 22 kilometers from Ballabhgarh to Dayanatpur village near Jewar, passing through Chandawali, Sotai, Bahbalpur, Phaphunda, Panhera Khurd, Narhawali, Mahmadpur, Hirapur, Mohna, and Chhainsa villages. The development project aims to enhance road connectivity and drive local economic growth along the Faridabad-Jewar route.

As quoted by The Tribune, Project Director of NHAI, Dhiraj Singh stated that, “The additional budget required for it is yet to be revealed. It may be shared between NHAI and the state government.”
