News24 Exclusive: Tejashwi Yadav slams Nitish govt, calls Rs 10,000 distribution a ‘Bribe’; Here’s what he said on Jungle Raj

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar government, calling the Rs 10,000 distribution to women during elections a “bribe” and accusing the administration of lawlessness.

News24 Exclusive: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday fiercely attacked the Nitish Kumar government in an interview with News24’s Editor-in-Chief, Anurradha Prasad. During the interview, when asked about the Bihar government depositing Rs 10,000 into women’s accounts, he termed it a bribe, saying that the money is being distributed during the elections while the Election Commission remains idle. He questioned why such funds were not provided in the last 20 years and asked what emergency justified giving it now, adding that it should have been distributed after the elections.

Tejashwi emphasised that the people of Bihar, especially women, are politically aware and understand the real reason behind the timing of this Rs 10,000 distribution. He further termed the amount as a loan, alleging that it hasn’t been given to the public, and that the government will recover it. “If you look closely, they have given it a new name. It is an old scheme called the ‘Mahila Udyami Yojana.’ It has been renamed and they are giving 10,000 rupees during elections,” Tejashwi said.

Tejashwi Yadav on ‘Jungle Raj’ Tag

When asked why the tag of “jungle raj” has persisted over his 20-year history, Tejashwi responded that joining the BJP will erase the stigma, but opposing the BJP leaves a taint on everything. Referring to the Mokama incident, he said, “What is jungle raj? What happened in Mokama? It has been two days, and how many arrests have been made here? Two days have passed, and how many arrests have been made? This is the real jungle raj. An opposition leader is shot, and the police administration stands by and watches. There was a delay in filing an FIR,” Tejashwi added.

Law and order in Bihar has completely deteriorated, says Tejashwi

During the interview, responding to a question, Tejashwi emphasised that the RJD has always been the single largest party and questioned what the government has to say in response. He stressed on incidents of lawlessness, citing the shelter home scandal, attacks on shopkeepers in their homes, and people being shot in hospitals in broad daylight. “Law and order in Bihar has completely deteriorated, which is why investment is not coming to Biha,” said Tejashwi.

On questions regarding threats from the Jan Suraaj party and vote-cutting, Yadav stated that there is no threat from anyone, and that the party’s focus remains on eradicating unemployment and making Bihar number one. “There is no threat from anyone. Our fight is to eradicate unemployment and make Bihar number one. We are engaged in this work. Every political party has the right to contest elections, but we are contesting on our own issues,” Tejashwi asserted.

When asked about his brother Tej Pratap, Tejashwi said, “It would have been better if we had stayed together. Who wants to fight separately? Everyone wants to fight together. They know very well what benefits them and what harms them.”
