New Delhi: Delhi LG The national capital’s Chhat Puja will be a dry day this year, according to Vijay Kumar Saxena’s declaration on Friday. On October 30, there will be a Chhat puja celebration. The LG issued the decision in his capacity as “Government” in accordance with Section 2 (35) of the Delhi Excise Act, 2009.

This comes following calls from political parties, notably the leader of the BJP in Delhi and the Delhi chapter of the Congress, for the LG to proclaim Chhat Puja a dry day and a public holiday.

The Delhi Congress has requested that Chhath Puja be proclaimed a public holiday and a dry day, arguing that the event was already recognised as a public holiday while the late Shiela Dixit, the party’s leader, served as Delhi’s chief minister.

Adesh Gupta, the leader of the Delhi BJP, has requested in a letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that Chhath Puja be declared a dry day.

He claims that Delhi’s and the festival’s holiness will be preserved by doing this. Kailash Gahlot, the minister of Delhi’s revenue, went to Hathi Ghat on the Yamuna’s banks close to ITO on Friday to check on Chhath Puja preparations.
