In light of the ongoing protests in Nepal, Kathmandu authorities have issued an alert along the India-Nepal border, according to top sources cited by ANI. India’s border security force, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), has ramped up surveillance and security efforts along the border to prevent any potential spillover of unrest into Indian territory.
“An alert has been issued along the India-Nepal border due to the protests in Nepal. The SSB is keeping a close watch on the situation,” officials informed ANI.

Authorities clarified that the alert is purely precautionary, and the situation remains stable at present. Additional forces have been deployed, and heightened security checks are in effect at multiple border outposts. The India-Nepal border, which stretches over 1,751 km through Uttarakhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Sikkim, is an open boundary allowing free movement for citizens of both nations.
Similar border alerts have been seen during past instances of unrest in Nepal, such as the 2015 Madhesi agitation, which disrupted trade and cross-border movement.
The latest alert comes in response to large-scale protests in Nepal, where thousands of young demonstrators stormed the Parliament on Monday. The protests erupted over the government’s ban on social media platforms and accusations of corruption.
Nepal’s government has restricted access to several platforms, including Facebook, citing the misuse of fake accounts to spread hate speech, misinformation, and conduct fraudulent activities. With Unputs From ANI.
