On Friday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) issued an updated NEET-UG results list, revealing 17 candidates as top scorers with a perfect 720 marks, a decrease from the earlier count of 61.

Initially, the NEET-UG results declared on June 4 listed 67 candidates achieving a perfect score of 720. The number was adjusted to 61 after re-evaluating, including a retest for 1,563 candidates given grace marks for time loss. In the latest updated results released on Friday, six candidates achieved a score of 716, while the remaining 77 candidates within the top 100 all scored 715.

From 2019 to 2023, NEET-UG has never had more than three top scorers in any single year (as in 2021).

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court made an expert committee from IIT Delhi with determining the accurate answer to a Physics question. Upon receiving the committee’s recommendation, the Supreme Court directed the NTA to amend the results and designate only one option as the correct answer. As a result, the 44 candidates who were initially granted grace marks saw their scores of 720 adjusted to 715.

Among the 17 top scorers in the updated results, none hail from Haryana, whereas three candidates from Haryana feature among the top 100. In the initial June results, four candidates from Haryana had achieved a perfect score of 720, with an additional four candidates from the state appearing in the top 100.

Revised Cutoffs

The revised results also led to a reduction in qualifying cutoffs — for unreserved and economically weaker sections, the new cutoff range is 720-162, down from 164, while for OBC/SC/ST categories, it is 161-127.

Gender and Regional Distribution

Among the top scorers, four girls achieved a perfect 720, increasing the proportion of female top performers from 16% to 23%. Additionally, 22 girls were among the top 100 candidates.

The list of top scorers includes four candidates from Rajasthan, three from Maharashtra, two each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Kerala, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Bihar, and West Bengal.
