The expert panel established by the central government to examine reforms for the National Testing Agency (NTA), in response to concerns about inconsistencies in the NEET examinations, is requesting input from students, parents, and other stakeholders.
Proposals can be submitted through a special window on the MyGov website until July 7.
“The committee is inviting suggestions, views, and ideas from stakeholders, especially students and parents, from June 27 to July 7, 2024. These suggestions can be submitted via the MyGov platform,” stated the Union Ministry of Education.
The expert panel, led by K. Radhakrishnan, former chairman of ISRO, has been tasked by the government to provide recommendations on reforms in the examination process, enhancements in data security protocols, and the overall structure and functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The NEET examination is under investigation for multiple irregularities, including alleged paper leaks and issues in awarding grace marks. The UGC-NET was cancelled after the government determined that the exam’s integrity had been compromised. Additionally, the CSIR-UGC NET and NEET PG exams were cancelled as a precautionary measure. All these exams are conducted by the NTA.
The government replaced the NTA chief and established an expert panel for comprehensive reforms of the agency.
The panel includes notable members such as former AIIMS Delhi director Randeep Guleria, Central University of Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor BJ Rao, Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at IIT Madras K Ramamurthy, PeopleStrong co-founder and Karmayogi Bharat board member Pankaj Bansal, IIT Delhi Dean of Student Affairs Aditya Mittal, and MoE Joint Secretary Govind Jaiswal.
