Every year, millions of students take the NEET exam with the dream of studying medicine. However, a recent incident from Maharashtra has shocked everyone. A 19-year-old student committed suicide despite passing the exam because he didn’t want to become a doctor.
This incident occurred in Chandrapur district. According to a PTI report, the student, a resident of Navagaon in Sindewahi taluka, had recently passed the NEET. He secured 1475th rank in the OBC category and was soon to begin an MBBS course in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
But on the morning of September 23, he was found hanging in his own home. Police recovered a suicide note from his room, stating that he did not want to pursue a medical career but instead wanted to start his own business. Police are currently investigating the case.
This incident has drawn attention, as similar incidents have occurred just a few months ago. A NEET candidate from Jammu and Kashmir committed suicide in Kota, Rajasthan. She hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her room and reportedly spoke to a relative before taking the extreme step.
That same month, another candidate in Kota also committed suicide a day before the exam. She lived with her parents and younger brother. While the family was downstairs and she was studying upstairs, her father discovered her hanging.
