Lucknow: At least 22 persons have died and another 50 injured after a tractor trolley, which was carrying pilgrims returning from Unnao, overturned in the Ghatampur area in Kanpur district.
Soon after the accident, the entire scene changed within minutes as bodies were lying on the road. Children and women were also injured in the accident. After getting information, a large number of local administration and rescue teams reached the spot. Relief work is still on. However, death is likely to increase further, some media reports suggest.

PM Narendra Modi, UP CM Adityanath Yogi and others expressed grief on the heavy loss of life via social media platforms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of those who died and Rs 50,000 each to the injured. On the other hand, CM Yogi said that this is a heartbreaking incident and will ensure that those who are injured receive proper treatment at hospitals. CM Yogi also extend his “condolences to families of the dead and injured”.
