The National Conference (NC) and Congress have finalized their seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Sources reveal that the alliance plans to jointly contest 83 of the 90 assembly seats, with the remaining five seats reserved for a friendly competition between the two parties. Reports indicate that Congress is expected to contest 32 of the 51 seats allocated to the NC, while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Panthers Party will each contest one seat.

Jammu And Kashmir Assembly Election Schedule
The elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with the vote counting set for October 4. This will be the first Assembly election in almost a decade.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah emphasized that the NC and Congress will stand united against forces attempting to divide people in Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated the importance of the INDIA alliance, formed to counter such divisive forces.

Confidence in the Alliance
Congress leader KC Venugopal expressed confidence that the Congress-NC alliance would form a “people-friendly” government in Jammu and Kashmir, countering the BJP’s influence in the region. He claimed that their combined efforts will lead to a victory in the upcoming polls.
