Bharat Bandh On August 21: All You Need To Know About Nationwide Shutdown

The Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for Bharat Bandh on August 21. The announcement comes against the recent decision made by the Supreme Court on SC/ST reservations. A huge participation is also expected by SC/ST groups of Rajasthan as they extend out their support in favor of tomorrow’s Bandh call.

As per Reports, instructions have been laid down to the police to increase their presence across all the districts to avoid any trouble. SP’s has also been issued directives to keep law and order in place during the Bharat Bandh. DGP UR Sahoo mentioned that meetings have previously been held with both the organizers of bandh and market associations for smoother coordination.

Reason For The Bandh

Bharat Bandh will be observed across India tomorrow to contest Supreme Court’s ruling. As per the decision, states are permitted to create sub-categories within the SC and ST groups. The ruling states that reservations should prioritize those who are in need of it.

August 21 protest aims to challenge SC’s ruling and demand its reversal. Various social and political organizations are anticipated to support Bharat Bandh and pressurize the court to change its decision.

Security Measures For Bharat Bandh 2024

To put an end to the potential violence, senior police officials conducted a video conference and analyzed the security preparations. All top officials were present in the meeting. Authorities are directed to ensure public safety amid the protests. Its unclear whether market will be closed tomorrow or it will continue, although the bandh organizers have urged businesses not to operate. Emergency services are not likely to be affected. However, there my be disruptions in public transport services and private offices. Other functional services includes schools, colleges, banks, government offices, etc.
