A woman reportedly murdered her three-year-old daughter following an argument with her husband in Nagpur city, Maharashtra. Afterward, she walked about 4 km with the body before eventually notifying the police about the incident, officials said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Monday evening within the MIDC police station limits, officials said. Twinkle Raut (23), the accused, and her husband Rama Laxman Raut (24) moved to Nagpur four years ago in search of employment.
An official said they worked at a paper products company and lived in a room within the firm’s premises on Hingna Road in the MIDC area. The police said their relationship was characterized by frequent quarrels arising from mutual distrust.
According to an official from the MIDC police station, the couple had another fight around 4 pm on Monday. During the argument, their daughter started crying.
In a burst of anger, the woman took the daughter outside the house. She allegedly choked the child to death under a tree, as stated by the official.

Afterwards, she walked with the body for almost four kilometres. Around 8 pm, she came across a police patrolling vehicle and informed the security personnel about the incident, he said.
The official said that the police rushed the child to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Subsequently, the MIDC police arrested the woman and booked her under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder), he said.
The woman was later produced in court, which remanded her to police custody until May 24, the official added.
