Nagaland Governor And Veteran BJP Leader La Ganesan Passes Away At 80 In Chennai

Nagaland Governor La Ganesan, 80, died in Chennai after a week of intensive care for a head injury sustained in a fall at his residence on August 8.

Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, passed away at the age of 80. He had been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai, for the past week.

He died around 6:23 pm today at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

According to the hospital, Ganesan was admitted after sustaining a head injury in a fall at his residence in T. Nagar on August 8, where he was found unconscious. Despite medical care, his vitals and condition did not improve.

PM Modi expressed his condolences on the passing away of Nagaland Governor Thiru La Ganesan. He said he will be remembered as a devout nationalist who dedicated his life to service and nation-building.

A veteran politician, Ganesan held several prominent roles in the Bharatiya Janata Party over his long career, including serving as the party’s Tamil Nadu president. Renowned for his organisational abilities, strong grassroots connections, and unwavering loyalty, he was appointed Governor of Nagaland in February 2023, after previously serving as Governor of Manipur and briefly holding additional charge of West Bengal.
