The three men, hailing from Sangrur, Nawanshahr, and Hoshiarpur districts, had left Delhi intending to travel to Australia on work permits. However, the agents accompanying them took them to Iran, claiming it was a temporary stopover. It was later reported that they were abducted.

The three missing men have been identified as: Hushanpreet Singh (Sangrur), Jaspal Singh (SBS Nagar) and Amritpal Singh (Hoshiarpur). They all went missing on May 1, shortly after landing in Tehran.

Kidnappers Demanded A Ransom Of Rs 1 Crore

A travel agent in Punjab had promised to send the three men to Australia through the Dubai-Iran route. He had reportedly assured them of a temporary stay in Iran. However, soon after they arrived there on May 1, they were abducted. The kidnappers, said the families, demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore.

The embassy assured that it is keeping the concerned families in India informed of the developments. “We are also keeping the family members regularly updated of the efforts being made by the Embassy,” the statement added.

Further details regarding the identities of the missing persons, their last known locations, or reasons for travel to Iran have not yet been disclosed.
