New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that his duty remains the same – Protecting the idea of India, following the Supreme Court stay on his conviction in the ‘Modi’ surname defamation case.

Taking the matter to Twitter, Congress leader wrote, “Come what may, my duty remains the same. Protect the idea of India.”
However, addressing the media, Gandhi said that today or tomorrow, truth always prevails. “My path is crystal clear, and I know my purpose and responsibilities. Grateful to those who assisted and supported me on this journey. Heartfelt thanks to everyone for their love and encouragement,” he added.
However, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge said that today is a moment of celebration for us, as justice, democracy, and truth prevail.

“I wholeheartedly welcome the Supreme Court’s decision, which sets an example that justice can indeed be served. This victory goes beyond Congress leader Rahul Gandhi; it is a triumph for the entire nation,” Kharge said, during a press conference.
“Rahul Gandhi is a dedicated advocate for truth, national interests, the rights of the youth, and addressing the issue of price rise in the country. He was unjustly disqualified within 24 hours, and now, we eagerly await to see how soon he is rightfully reinstated,” Kharge added.

Another Congress MP, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary hailed Rahul Gandhi’s victory as a symbolic defeat for Prime Minister Modi. He highlighted the prevalence of “Satyamev Jayate” (truth alone triumphs) in the Parliament, asserting that the conspiracy against Rahul had failed. Chowdhary also emphasized that Rahul’s triumph would have significant implications for Modi’s leadership.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Randeep Surjewala said, “The recent Supreme Court judgment has sparked a reaffirmation of democracy, constitutional values, and the victory of truth. The ruling has revitalized public trust in the system.”
Likewise, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate expressed her belief that the Parliament will witness the resounding voice of the lion once more. She urged the Speaker to promptly overturn the decision, indicating the party’s determination to rectify the situation.
