Mumbai: Two College Students Held For Robbing Men After Luring Them On Dating App

According to police, the number of robbed men stands at around 8 to 10 so far. Police identified the suspects as Anubhav Ojha, 19, and Hankar, also known as Ravi Jha, 19, who are studying in a reputed college.

The Railway Police have arrested two college students accused of using a dating app to pose as gay men and lure victims to a secluded spot in Kandivali West, where they would then rob them of cash and valuables. Reports suggest the scheme had been in operation for the past three months.

According to police, the number of robbed men stands at around 8 to 10 so far. Police identified the suspects as Anubhav Ojha, 19, and Hankar, also known as Ravi Jha, 19, who are studying in a reputed college. After making their arrest, the court sent them to police custody for further investigation until May 23.

According to the police, a 23-year-old who had finished his education used a dating app to search for a same-sex match. A youth called Anubhav Ojha,19, emailed him on May 16 asking to meet for a same-sex encounter, and he agreed. We had planned to meet near a godown found between the stations at Borivali and Kandivali. You’ll find few people in the area close to the railway tracks. As decided, the complainant arrived at the spot at around 9 p.m. Ravi Shankar alias Ravi Jha was also in the car with Anubhav Ojha. Officers alleged that at knifepoint, both suspects attacked the victim and stole an iPhone, a golden ring valued at Rs 30,000, a gold earring worth Rs 40,000, and Rs 2,500 in cash.

Because the incident was so serious, the Railways called in its Special Investigation Team (SIT). According to technical analysis, the police arrested Ravi Shankar alias Ravi alias Nandan Leelakant Jha, 19 and Anubhav alias Ritik Nanhelal Ojha, 19, both from Poinsar, Kandivali, West. Officials have indicated that both suspects are students at a top college.

As quoted by Free Press Journal, a police officer mentioned, “Both accused live in the same area of Poinsar in Kandivali West. A physical assault case had been filed against Jha in the past at Samta Nagar Police Station, while there are no prior cases against Ojha. Only a victim filed a complaint, but the accused robbed 8-10 individuals.”
