The Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) has launched a new mobile app called Matadhikar, designed to help citizens easily access voter-related information for the upcoming local body elections. The app, developed by MahaIT, is available on the Google Play Store for Android users but is missing from the Apple App Store.
Features of the Matadhikar App
The Matadhikar app allows users to quickly check voter details through the Voter List Search feature. There are two ways to search for voter information:
- Name-wise search
- EPIC number-wise search
Users need to select their local body, district, and local body name to narrow down the search results.
Once the search is complete, the app provides the following voter details:
- Full name
- EPIC number
- Age and gender
- Ward number
- Part number
- Assembly number
- Serial number in the voter list
- Local body
- Booth number, name, and address
This helps voters easily find their election-related information.
Data Safety and Privacy Claims
The developers of Matadhikar have assured that the app does not collect any user data, nor does it share information with third parties. The app’s data transfer is encrypted, ensuring it remains secure and private. This makes Matadhikar a safe tool for public access to voter information.
The Matadhikar app was launched ahead of elections for 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra. Some newly formed municipal councils, like Jaha and Ichalkaranji, are also part of these elections.
Key dates for the election process:
- Nomination Process: 23–30 December 2025
- Scrutiny of Nominations: 31 December 2025
- Candidate Withdrawal: Until 2 January 2026
- Election Symbols Allotted: 3 January 2026
- Voting Date: 15 January 2026
- Counting of Votes: 16 January 2026
Matadhikar App Missing iOS Version
Although the app claims to be available on both Android and iOS, the Matadhikar app is currently not available on the Apple App Store. This creates a noticeable gap, especially for a government utility app meant to reach all voters, regardless of the platform they use.
For now, Matadhikar works as a basic voter lookup tool on Android, providing essential electoral details. Whether the iOS version will be available as promised is yet to be seen.
